Fishing Locations

Cork has many trout & salmon lake's and river's distributed around the area of Cork. 

Main baits used for trout is worms,maggots,spinners and flies and main baits for salmon is worms,spinners,flies and shrimp.

The Bandon river

The Bandon river is home to Sea trout,Brown Trout and Salmon which can be caught on Mepp's,Fresh worms and Shrimp.The Bandon river is located 15-20 minute drive from cork city along the n71 and r586(see map) There are many fishing spots along the  Bandon river such as sand banks or clearing's. Worms are the preferred bait for trout and salmon but mepp's and spinners work equally as well..South-western fisheries boards licence is needed to fish for sea trout and salmon. For the seasonal district licence it is 58euro and for the seasonal all-district licence it is 120euro. These can be bought in our shop. 


Ballinlough is located in west cork along the n60. It's a quiet lake home to Rainbow trout and Brown trout. Rainbow trout can vary from 2lbs to 5lbs but the brown trout are smaller. Boats can be hired from a house near a lake or you can ring ahead to avoid disappointment . It's fly fishing only in this lake. 


Ballyhass is located near mallow. There are two different lakes, one for fly fishing only and one for spinning,bait and fly fishing.You can hire boats at the shop . 2lbs-3lbs rainbow trout are stocked regurlary .Ballyhass is a perfect day out and is very quiet. The lakes are plentiful with fish so you have a good chance of catching a good fish.


Corks Balckwater is a great place for salmon fishing. It is a calm river with plenty of specimen Salmon. Many of the parts of the black water are privately owned so be careful where you fish.
